Pezzi anatomici (Anatomical Pieces) is a project that investigates, and adapts to, different formats: the rehearsal room with its experimental course, the concert, the show or more shows. The scene is a meeting place between spectacular activity and research on choreographic language, with an attitude that keeps opening up to drifts and inventions in real time. It offers the audience a rhythmically structured mechanism, camouflaged in the distracted flow of the experiment. A variable number of dancers meets different proposals and also artists of different disciplines, to build together a time of anatomical investigation that reaches moments of pure vision, using the choreographic culture as a key to access a wider universe of thought. The proposal follows the model and function of the Renaissance "anatomical cabinet", where scientific information was supported by the exposure of the bodies. The visionary strength of choreography manifests itself without being announced, it appears within a process and reveals the complexity of the references that generate the moving images of bodies. The work aims at the invention of a body language by looking for uncovered anatomical attitudes, Always under observation. It certainly has to do with animality, something we experience especially as captivity: putting oneself in a cage, or in the anatomical-scientific cabinet, becomes a temporary strategy to unleash creation and to search for the truthfulness we need. The open.

The work sessions and the concerts made for Pezzi anatomici have a long duration. They offer a performative state that is always alert, extemporaneous and unrepeatable, yet sweet and very relatable. The viewers can choose to enjoy the passage of this time as they please: it’s up to them to define the absence of borders for these rehearsals of a show that will never happen.
